Testo 176 P1 (product code 0572 1767) is a 5-channel pressure, temperature and humidity data logger with a large display that simultaneously records barometric pressure, temperature and humidity with an internal absolute pressure sensor and two external probe inputs. With the internal sensor it measures pressure in the range of 600 … 1100 mbar with ±3 mbar accuracy and 0.1 mbar resolution; with the connected humidity/temperature or NTC temperature probes it records temperature in the range of −20 … +70 °C with ±0.2 °C instrument accuracy and humidity in the range of 0 … 100 %RH. It has integrated dew point calculation and stores up to 2 million readings. It is designed for applications such as laboratories where ambient conditions must be documented with high precision and reliability.

Important: External probes are required for temperature and humidity measurement; the humidity/temperature or NTC temperature probes and the mini USB connection cable required to program the logger are not included in the scope of delivery. Probes suitable for the application and, if you do not have one at first purchase, a mini USB cable must be obtained separately.

Pressure, Temperature and Humidity Logging for Laboratory Ambient Conditions

The large LCD display shows the channel values, logging status (Rec, Wait, End) and battery capacity; when a programmed upper or lower alarm value is exceeded, the corresponding alarm symbol lights up. Pressing the GO button displays in turn the last reading, the highest and lowest recorded values, the upper and lower alarm values, how many times these values were exceeded and the remaining battery life (days). The red LED additionally signals battery warnings, and the yellow and green LEDs signal logging and standby modes.

The active channels and connected probes are defined with the free Testo ComSoft Basic software; the probes are plugged into inputs 1 and 2 on the underside of the housing. The measuring interval can be freely selected between 1 second and 24 hours; at a 15-minute measuring interval it runs for approximately 8 years on a single lithium AA battery. Recorded data are retained when the battery runs out or is being replaced. Data are transferred to a computer via the mini USB port on the side or to a card inserted in the SD card slot; in the software they are viewed as graphs and tables and exported to Excel. The device is placed in the wall bracket and secured with the supplied lock.

Technician Tips

• Plug the probes in by number: plug each probe into the numbered input on the housing that you assigned to it in the software; place the two probes at the two different points you want to monitor.
• Humidity accuracy is determined by the probe: total humidity accuracy depends on the accuracy of the connected probe; for example, Testo's 12 mm humidity/temperature probe (0572 6172) gives ±2 %RH accuracy in the range of 2 … 98 %RH at +25 °C.
• Temperature range for pressure accuracy: the ±3 mbar accuracy of the internal pressure sensor is specified for 0 … +50 °C; for precise pressure logging, mount the logger at a point within this temperature range.
• Watch out for condensation: humidity measurement is intended for non-condensing environments; in continuous applications where 80% RH at ≤30 °C or 60% RH above 30 °C is exceeded for more than 12 hours, obtain Testo's application recommendation.
• Display in cold environments: below 0 °C the display updates more slowly (approx. 2 seconds at −10 °C, approx. 6 seconds at −20 °C); this does not affect measuring accuracy. Switching off the display in the software has a positive effect on battery life.
