The combustion chamber insulation panel is the heat insulation board surrounding the compartment of the combi boiler in which the burner flame forms. It limits the transfer of the flame's heat to the casing and surrounding parts and keeps the temperature in the combustion chamber stable. In the field it is referred to simply as the asbestos panel, and in catalogue language as the combustion chamber insulation board. Today these boards contain no asbestos; they are made from ceramic-fibre-based material.
What Does the Combustion Chamber Insulation Panel Do?
- Keeps the heat of the combustion chamber inside and reduces heat transfer to the casing and electronic parts.
- A worn, broken or crumbled insulation panel disturbs the temperature distribution in the combustion chamber and causes the surrounding parts to heat up.
- The insulation boards are also checked when replacing the heat exchanger, burner or gasket; if there are cracks or crumbling, they are replaced.
Model and Size Selection
Insulation boards are produced in different diameters, thicknesses and cut shapes according to the boiler model; the front and rear boards may differ on the same product. To choose the right part, the brand and model of the boiler should be compared together with the dimensions of the removed board.
