Danfoss AKS 11 (code 084N0005) is a Pt1000 type temperature sensor used for temperature measurement in refrigeration, air conditioning and heating systems. It works with Danfoss EKC / ERC series controllers; it is also used for temperature logging and monitoring.
Pt1000 Sensor: Can Be Checked with an Ohmmeter, No Calibration Needed
Pt1000 is a platinum resistance measuring element: it reads exactly 1000 Ω at 0 °C and its resistance changes almost linearly with temperature. The sensor comes factory-calibrated and complies with the EN 60751 Class B tolerance — no adjustment is required in the field.
🔧 Ease of service: If a fault is suspected, you can measure the sensor with an ohmmeter at the terminal without removing it: 922 Ω at −20 °C · 1000 Ω at 0 °C · 1078 Ω at +20 °C. An open circuit or a deviation from these values indicates that the sensor is faulty. The 2nd image shows the full resistance table.

- 🔑 What does "S2 – S4" mean? The color-coded versions of the Danfoss AKS 11 are made for specific sensor positions: Blue S1 (evaporator inlet) · Red S2 (evaporator outlet) · Purple S3 (return air) · Green S4 (supply air) · Orange S5 (defrost termination). This product is the standard black-cable ("single type") version and can be used in all S2, S3 and S4 positions — the color-coded versions are sold under separate codes with 8.5 m cable in packs of 50.
- 🔧 Installation: For measurement on a pipe, the sensor is attached with the supplied stainless clip in full contact with the pipe and is insulated. Without insulation, the sensor is affected by the ambient temperature instead of the pipe temperature.
- Take cable resistance into account when extending: on 2 × 0.22 mm² cable each conductor is 78.2 Ω/km; with the standard 5.5 m cable a total of ≈0.86 Ω is added to the measurement. With long extensions the measurement drifts.
- Do not route the sensor cable in the same duct as power cables — inductive noise corrupts the measurement.
- IP67 rating means it can be used safely in humid environments and in the evaporator area.
