Testo Smart Probes AC and Refrigeration Test Set (product code 0563 0002 10) is a compact set for the service, troubleshooting and installation of air conditioning and refrigeration systems, used with a smartphone or tablet. The set includes 2 Testo 549i wireless high pressure probes, 2 Testo 115i wireless clamp thermometers and a refrigeration case to carry them together. The probe values are collected in the free Testo Smart App app; the app automatically calculates the superheat and subcooling values.

Hoseless and Wireless AC-Refrigeration Measurement Set

The Testo 549i probes are fitted directly onto the service valves; since no hoses are needed for measurement, refrigerant loss is avoided or minimized. The two pressure probes measure the high and low pressure sides, and the two Testo 115i clamps measure the pipe temperature of the liquid and suction lines, simultaneously. The app has more than 90 refrigerants stored; evaporation and condensation temperatures are calculated automatically according to the selected refrigerant.

The probes work with a Bluetooth range of up to 100 meters, so the distance between the indoor and outdoor units does not hinder measurement; the technician monitors all values on one screen. Measurement data are shown as a graph or table, and the report is sent by e-mail with photos and notes as a PDF or Excel file. Buying the probes as a set instead of individually gives you a complete superheat–subcooling measurement setup without using a digital manifold.

Technician Tips

• Fit the clamps at the right point: for superheat fit the clamp on the suction line, for subcooling on the liquid line, on an unpainted, uninsulated pipe section close to the service valve where the pressure probe is fitted.
• Pair and name the probes: define the high and low pressure probes separately in the app; swapping the two probes corrupts the calculation.
• Select the refrigerant correctly: evaporation and condensation temperatures are calculated according to the selected refrigerant; do not interpret the values without selecting the refrigerant on the system label.
• Use an adapter on 5/16 inch valves: the pressure probes have a 7/16 inch UNF thread; a suitable adapter is required for the 5/16 inch service valves on R410A and R32 split air conditioners.
• Mind the pressure when removing: when removing the probe on the high pressure side, make sure the valve is closed; wear gloves and goggles.
