Testo 905-T2 Surface Thermometer – Spring-Loaded Type K Thermocouple Tip, −50…+350 °C (Short-Term +500 °C), Pipe and Installation Surface Measurement (0560 9056)

Testo 905-T2 (product code 0560 9056) is a digital surface thermometer with a spring-loaded crossed-band type K thermocouple measuring tip, designed for temperature measurement on flat and rough surfaces. The spring-loaded thermocouple band adapts to the measured surface by itself; this prevents the probe from tilting and distorting the measurement result, and the tip picks up the surface temperature very quickly (t99 approx. 5 seconds). It measures in the range −50 … +350 °C, and briefly (1–2 minutes) up to +500 °C. It is used in heating, plumbing and refrigeration installations; since it has no problems with rough surfaces, it is especially suitable for measuring pipe surface temperature.

Fast Surface Temperature Measurement on Rough Surfaces and Pipes

The head carrying the display rotates, so readings can be read comfortably from different angles. It is operated with a single button: pressing the button once switches the instrument on, pressing it again toggles between the current value and HOLD (frozen value), and holding it for 3 seconds switches it off. If the button is held down at switch-on until the segment test is complete, the unit of measurement can be changed between °C/°F. If no button is pressed for approximately 10 minutes, the instrument switches off automatically. It comes with a multi-purpose clip and runs for approximately 1000 hours on 3 AAA batteries.

Technician Tips

• Place the tip perpendicular to the surface: place the measuring head directly and perpendicularly on the surface; the spring-loaded thermocouple band adapts to the surface and gives an accurate and fast result.
• Protect the crossed bands: the crossed metal bands on the probe tip are delicate; do not rub them against sharp edges or damage them.
• Keep +500 °C brief: the continuous measuring range of the thermometer is up to +350 °C; measurements up to +500 °C must only be made for 1–2 minutes.
• Wait when the environment changes: when the instrument is taken to an environment at a different temperature, an adjustment time of approximately 15 minutes is required. Do not leave the housing outside the 0 … +40 °C operating temperature, for example protect it from direct sunlight.
• Do not measure on live parts: do not take measurements on or near electrically live parts. Remove the display protective film before first use; replace the 3 AAA batteries when the battery symbol appears on the display.
