Testo 805i (product code 0560 1805) is a wireless infrared thermometer operated with a smartphone or tablet. It measures non-contact surface temperature in the range −30 … +250 °C and marks the measured area with an 8-point laser circle. It is ideal for measuring the temperature of grilles, pipes, coils and wall surfaces in air conditioning and ventilation systems; readings are transferred via Bluetooth to the free Testo Smart App.
Non-Contact Surface Temperature and Photo Measurement Records
Different surfaces have different emissivity; on the Testo 805i the emissivity value is easily selected from the stored material list in the app, so more accurate results are obtained on materials such as painted surfaces, copper pipe or concrete. The app creates a visual measurement record by adding the temperature value and laser marking to a photo taken with the phone's camera.
With a special menu in the app, areas on wall surfaces with a risk of mold formation can be identified. All measurement reports are sent directly as PDF or Excel files. With its compact body, it takes up little space in the service case.

Technician Tips
- Select the emissivity according to the surface: bare and shiny metal surfaces (bright copper, aluminum) read low with infrared; apply matte tape or paint to the measuring point, or select the correct material from the material list.
- Check the measuring area with the laser: the measured area grows with distance; make sure the 8-point laser circle stays entirely within the surface you want to measure.
- A clamp is more accurate for pipe temperature: for superheat and subcooling calculations, use a contact clamp thermometer for pipe temperature; infrared measurement is for quick checks.
- Distinguish supply air temperature at grilles: an infrared thermometer measures the temperature of the grille surface, not the air; use a probe-type thermometer for air temperature.
- Do not point the laser at eyes: do not aim the laser marker at the eyes of people or animals.
