Testo 410-2 (product code 0560 4102) is a pocket vane anemometer designed for quick spot checks at air conditioning and ventilation vents. With its fixed 30 mm vane it measures 0.4 … 20 m/s air velocity, with its NTC sensor −10 … +50 °C air temperature, and with the long-term stable Testo humidity sensor 0 … 100 %RH relative humidity. It calculates and displays the dew point and wet bulb temperature.

Air Velocity, Temperature and Humidity at the Vent in One Device

At the supply outlet of an air conditioner indoor unit or at a ventilation vent, air velocity and the temperature and humidity of the supplied air are read with the same device; this way the outlet air conditions are checked without a separate thermohygrometer. The timed average function calculates the average air velocity over the vent surface, the Hold function freezes the current values, and the max./min. display gives the highest and lowest values measured since the device was switched on or reset.

The illuminated display makes reading easier in dark spots such as inside suspended ceilings. The removable protective cap protects the vane during transport, and the wrist strap prevents the device from being dropped during measurement. Outdoors it shows wind speed on the Beaufort scale and the wind-dependent perceived temperature (wind chill); the speed unit can be selected as m/s, km/h, fpm, mph and knots.

If measurement with a telescopic probe in a duct and volume flow calculation are required, the Testo 405 and wireless Testo 405i thermal anemometers are available.

Technician Tips

• Let the flow hit the back: hold the device so that the airflow strikes the vane from the back; a device held the wrong way round does not measure correctly.
• Take an average at the vent: start the timed average and move the device slowly over the vent surface; a velocity read at a single point does not represent the whole vent.
• Keep your hand away from the sensor: do not cover the front of the humidity and temperature sensor with your hand; hand heat and moisture change the reading.
• Wait when the environment changes: when you move from a cold environment to a warm one, wait a few minutes until the humidity and temperature values settle.
• Protect the vane: do not use it in very dusty, oily environments; fit the protective cap after measuring.
