Testo 184 T1 (product code 0572 1841) is a USB-connected, single-use temperature data logger developed to monitor the road, rail and air transport of sensitive products requiring a cold chain, such as pharmaceuticals, food and electronics. With its internal NTC sensor it measures in the range of −35 … +70 °C with ±0.5 °C accuracy and stores up to 16,000 readings; with its non-replaceable internal battery it can be used for 90 days from the first program start. No software installation is required: settings are made with the PDF configuration file inside the logger, and when it is plugged into a computer a PDF report containing the measurement data is generated automatically. It is EN 12830 and HACCP International certified.
The logger is delivered in deep sleep mode to save battery; when the START or STOP button is pressed, it switches to standby mode. Logging starts by pressing the START button for about 3 seconds or automatically at the configured time; a start delay can be defined for button start. Logging ends by pressing the STOP button for 3 seconds or at the set time. To document the stages during transport when responsibility passes to another company, up to 10 time marks can be set by pressing the START button for 3 seconds.
The device has no display; at the destination it is enough to look at the LEDs: if the Alarm LED is green there has been no limit violation, if it is red an alarm has occurred; the Battery LED turns red when the remaining service life falls below 10 days; the Mode LED shows logging (green), end (red) and standby (green and red) status. The LEDs flash every 5 seconds to save battery.
When the logger is plugged into the USB port of a computer, the configuration PDF inside it is opened with Adobe Reader; settings such as the measuring interval (1 minute … 24 hours), start and stop criteria, and a single alarm or a cumulative alarm triggered when the permitted total time is exceeded are made and saved to the logger. The same setting can be used as an XML file as a template for other loggers, and a company logo can be added to the report. At the end of transport, when the logger is plugged into a Windows computer, the generated PDF report can be opened and printed or sent by e-mail; the configuration file, calibration protocol, user manual and PDF report are stored inside the logger. Thanks to the NFC interface, data can be transferred wirelessly to the Testo mobile printer (0572 0576) for printing in the field.
