Operating Temperatures, Replacement Codes and Replacement Notes

• Temperature values are taken from the product box. The thermostat stops the compressor when the probe temperature drops to -18 °C (cold out) and restarts it when it rises to -9.5 °C (cold in). When the adjustment shaft is turned towards warm, the cut-in point can be moved up to +8.5 °C; this range allows the display cabinet to be adjusted for different product groups (cakes, delicatessen, beverages).
• Correct model selection: In the Ranco series, K50 is coded for display/single-door coolers, K59 for two-door refrigerators and K60 for single-door refrigerators with manual defrost. Compare the code on the body of the thermostat you will be removing; if you see A10-1502 or A10-1053, this product is a direct replacement.
• Check the capillary length. This model comes with a 1200 mm capillary. In cabinets requiring a longer capillary, forcibly stretching the tube leads to breakage and loss of the gas charge; the thermostat is then permanently out of service.
• Probe placement determines temperature accuracy. Place the probe in the same holder as the original thermostat, with the same depth and contact. In display cabinets the probe is usually positioned on the return air side; points under direct discharge airflow or lighting give false readings.
• Verify the fault before replacement. The cabinet never stopping, never running or not responding to adjustment indicates a thermostat fault; the same symptoms are also seen with a door gasket leak, a dirty condenser and a refrigerant leak.
• Unplug the appliance before any electrical work; note or photograph the terminal positions before disconnecting the wires.
