Testo 770-3 (product code 0590 7703 02) is a TRMS clamp meter with Bluetooth, the most comprehensive model in the Testo 770 clamp meter series. It measures 0.01 … 600 A AC/DC current and voltages up to 1000 V; thanks to its improved resolution, it gives precise results in the low current range as well. In addition to the instrument, the kit includes a set of test leads, a carrying case and batteries. Readings are transferred via Bluetooth to the free Testo Smart App and other Testo measuring instruments.

The Most Comprehensive Model in the Series: Bluetooth, µA, Power and 1000 V

The movable clamp jaw is fully retractable into the instrument; this way, tightly packed cables in switch cabinets are gripped one by one and accurately. The instrument automatically detects and selects AC/DC as well as parameters such as resistance, continuity, diode and capacitance. In addition to standard measurements, special applications such as inrush current, power and µA measurement can also be performed.

Readings are shown on the clamp meter's two-line display and in the app; in the app the measurement curve is followed graphically, and readings are saved directly to a report and sent. With the optional temperature adapter and a separately ordered type K thermocouple probe, temperature can also be measured alongside electrical parameters.

Technician Tips

• Clamp a single conductor: when measuring current, enclose only the phase or the neutral conductor in the jaw; clamping both conductors together shows a value close to zero.
• See the compressor start with the inrush current function: on a compressor that struggles to start, measure the starting current and compare it with the LRA value on the label.
• TRMS matters in inverter circuits: in air conditioners with inverter boards the waveform is distorted; TRMS measurement gives the true current and voltage values.
• Keep records with the app: follow long-term current changes as a curve in the Testo Smart App; with intermittent faults this gives more information than a momentary reading.
• Observe the category: do not exceed the 600 V limit in a CAT IV environment or the 1000 V limit in a CAT III environment; carry out resistance and continuity measurements after the power has been disconnected.
