Testo 755-2 (product code 0590 7552) is a multifunction current/voltage tester that combines a voltage tester and a current measuring instrument in a single housing. It measures 6 … 1000 V AC/DC voltage and 0.1 … 200 A AC current; it is used for determining the absence of voltage and power, checking voltage level and continuity, measuring current consumption, rotary field (phase sequence) testing, and single-pole phase testing, which quickly shows whether there is voltage on a conductor. It is certified according to DIN EN 61243-3:2014 and DIN EN 61010-1:2011.

Voltage Testing and Current Measurement in One Instrument

The Testo 755-2 automatically detects the measurement parameter; voltage, polarity and measuring range are determined automatically, and the instrument switches on by itself at voltages above 6 V. The replaceable test probes are easily renewed without replacing the instrument; the integrated flashlight illuminates the measuring point in dark control panels.

Compared with the Testo 755-1 of the same series, the voltage range goes up to 1000 V; in addition, rotary field direction checks on three-phase systems and the single-pole phase test, which shows with a single probe whether a conductor is live, can be performed. It is a practical solution for checking the phase sequence of compressor and fan motors and for control panel service.

Technician Tips

• Test on a known source before use: before verifying the absence of voltage, test the instrument on a socket known to be live, and test it again after measuring.
• Check the compressor phase sequence: on three-phase scroll compressors and fans, a reversed phase causes reverse rotation; verify the phase sequence with the rotary field test before connection.
• A single-pole test is not conclusive: a single-probe phase test is a quick preliminary check; confirm the absence of voltage with a two-pole voltage measurement.
• Measure a single conductor for current: when measuring current, enclose only one conductor in the clamp; if the whole cable (phase + neutral) is enclosed, a value close to zero is read.
• Protect the probes and caps: use probe caps suitable for the CAT environment; replace a damaged probe with a new one.
