Testo 174 T BT (product code 0572 1742 01) is a mini temperature data logger that measures and records temperature at set intervals and connects via Bluetooth to the Testo Smart App. It measures in the range of −30 … +70 °C with ±0.5 °C accuracy and stores up to 16,000 readings. With its IP65 protected housing and EN 12830 compliance, it is suitable for temperature monitoring in refrigerators, freezers, cold rooms and refrigerated shelving; it is used to document the storage conditions of food and pharmaceutical products.

Temperature Logging in Cold Rooms, Freezers and Refrigerators

Programming the logger, reading out and evaluating data are done with the free Testo Smart App; data are read via Bluetooth from a distance of up to 30 meters from the measuring point. In the app, PDF reports and CSV/JSN exports are created, and photos and comments can be added and sent by e-mail. The measuring interval can be selected between 1 minute and 24 hours; logging starts by pressing the GO button for 3 seconds or at the programmed date and time.

The LCD display shows the current value, the highest and lowest recorded values, the programmed upper/lower alarm values and the battery status; when an alarm value is exceeded, the corresponding symbol lights up. Recorded data are retained when the battery runs out or is being replaced. With 2 × CR2032 batteries it runs for approximately 500 days at a 15-minute measuring interval. It is HACCP and NSF certified.

Technician Tips

• Allow for the stabilization time: the sensor response time t99 is 40 minutes; after placing the logger in the cold room, do not include the first records in the evaluation until the environment has stabilized.
• Place it at the right point: fix it with the wall bracket at a point representative of the protected product, rather than directly in front of the door opening and the evaporator airflow.
• Have it calibrated annually: devices used under EN 12830 require regular inspection and calibration according to EN 13486; once a year is recommended.
• The display slows down in the cold: below 0 °C the LCD display responds slowly (approx. 6 s at −20 °C); this does not affect measuring accuracy.
• Plan battery replacement: when the batteries are replaced, the running logging program stops and data are retained; restart the program after replacement.
