- Brand: OEM
- Model: 01 41 481
This oil injector is an aluminium-bodied service tool for adding compressor oil (POE, PAG, mineral) or UV leak detection dye to a running refrigeration circuit. The 1/4" SAE male fitting at the bottom of the body connects to the hose coming from the refrigerant cylinder or manifold, and the 1/4" SAE female swivel fitting at the end of the hose connects to the system's service valve. The mini ball valve at the hose inlet controls when the oil flows. In the trade it is also called an oil charging tool, oil injector or oil syringe.
How Is It Used?
- Close the ball valve, unscrew the knurled cap and fill the cylinder with the required amount of oil or dye; tighten the cap.
- Connect the 1/4" female fitting at the end of the hose to the system's low-pressure service valve (charging port).
- Connect the hose from the refrigerant cylinder or manifold to the 1/4" male fitting at the bottom of the body; open the cylinder valve.
- Open the ball valve slowly: cylinder pressure pushes the oil into the circuit. When the oil is gone, close the valve, then disconnect first the cylinder hose and then the injector.
Do not leave the valve open once the injector is empty; only oil should enter the circuit, and refrigerant pushed through an empty injector also carries the air inside it.
Where Is It Used?
- Topping up oil in split air conditioners and commercial refrigeration circuits after a compressor change, a long pipe run or oil loss.
- Injecting UV dye for leak detection: the dye is added together with oil and the leak is located with a UV lamp.
- Refrigerators, cold rooms and all systems with a 1/4" SAE service valve; R410A and R32 air conditioners with 5/16" ports need a 1/4" – 5/16" adapter.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can oil be added while the system is running?
Yes. Because the refrigerant cylinder pressure is higher than the suction line pressure, the oil is fed into the running circuit through the low-pressure service valve. Do not open the valve when the cylinder hose is not connected.
Which oil is used?
The oil matching the refrigerant in the circuit: POE for R134a, R404A, R410A and R32 systems, PAG for automotive air conditioning, mineral or alkylbenzene oil for R22 and R600a systems. Do not mix different oil types.
How does it differ from an automotive A/C injector?
Automotive A/C injectors have a 13 mm or 14 mm quick coupler at the hose end. On this product both ends are 1/4" SAE fittings, which is why it is used in split air conditioning and refrigeration service.
