The 3/4" female thread, 5/8" bore brass flare nut is a reducing nut that allows a 5/8 copper tube to be connected to a 3/4 flare port in air conditioning and refrigeration piping. It lets you tighten a flared 5/8" tube directly onto a service valve, compressor port or fitting with a 3/4" male thread; no separate adapter or tube expansion is needed. Its forged brass body withstands repeated removal and refitting.

Technical Specifications, Series Sizes and Installation Notes

  • Series sizes: This reducing flare nut series includes the options 3/8" - 1/4", 1/2" - 3/8", 5/8" - 1/2" and 3/4" - 5/8" (this product). Before ordering, verify both the thread size of the port you will connect to and the tube diameter; if the two are mixed up, the flare nut either will not thread on or will not hold the tube.
  • Flare quality determines leak tightness. If the tube flare is not made properly, or is cracked or dented, the flare nut will leak refrigerant no matter how much it is tightened. Deburr the tube end before flaring and position the flaring tool square to the tube.
  • Do not overtighten. Excessive torque on a brass flare nut thins the flare and cracks it over time; this risk is higher on large diameters. If you can use a torque wrench, choose the value appropriate for the tube diameter.
  • Clean the surfaces before installation. Chips or dirt getting into the flare nut both impair leak tightness and, if they enter the circuit, clog the filter drier and the expansion device.
  • After connecting, pressurize the circuit with nitrogen and check for leaks with soap solution or an electronic detector; do not skip this test before evacuation.
