Wilo KSL 15/6-3 C is a combi boiler circulation pump that circulates heating water in combi boilers; in the field it is also referred to as a circulator or simply a boiler pump. The pump comes together with the plastic hydraulic housing by which it connects to the boiler. Its label states that it is made by Wilo Intec (France) and shows the Wilo number 4533826.
This pump, the type with housing, is a replacement pump used in Airfel, Daikin and Kentatsu combi boilers. It draws 43 / 59 / 82 W at its three speed settings; "15/6" in the type code denotes the 15 mm connection and a maximum head of 6 meters.
In heating mode, it pumps the water heated in the boiler's main heat exchanger to the installation and radiators and returns the cooled water. In domestic hot water mode, it circulates water through the plate heat exchanger. If the pump stops, the boiler heats the water but cannot circulate it; as a result, the board soon goes into overheat protection.
In pumps that have not run for a long time, the shaft can seize due to deposits. This is checked by opening the brass bleed screw on the front and turning the shaft a few turns with a screwdriver; if the shaft does not turn freely, or if water does not circulate even though the pump is turning, the pump must be replaced.
