Universal Roller Lever Micro Switch

The universal roller micro switch is a standard KW type micro switch with a 16 A / 250 V current rating, SPDT (COM / NO / NC) contacts and a roller lever. It is a universal spare part that replaces the micro switch in combi boiler flow switches and 3-way valve assemblies, oven and dishwasher door safety switches, and general machine position sensing circuits.

In mechanical combi boilers, when the hot water tap is opened a diaphragm or turbine pushes a micro switch; with this signal the board switches to hot water mode. A micro switch whose contacts are worn, which no longer "clicks" or which detects hot water demand late shows up as the boiler not switching to hot water or staying permanently in hot water mode. Since this universal micro switch has a standard KW / V type body and hole spacing, it can replace micro switches of the same size.

The roller lever is preferred where a moving part (cam, cover, latch) slides over the switch; the roller reduces friction and prevents lever wear.

Installation Note

Disconnect power to the appliance before making connections. Note the COM, NO and NC terminals of the old switch and connect them in the same order; if the normally open (NO) and normally closed (NC) terminals are connected the wrong way round, the appliance stays permanently in hot water mode or never switches over. The direction in which the roller contacts the cam must be the same as on the old part.
