Threading and Grooving

A pipe threader is used to cut external threads on steel and galvanised plumbing pipes. Hand-operated ratchet threaders are preferred for small diameters, electric threading machines for volume work and large diameters. Grooving machines cut a groove on the pipe end for grooved (coupling) pipe connections.

When Choosing

• Thread standard: BSPT (R) is used in plumbing in Turkey; NPT is the American standard.
• Diameter: The die head and dies are selected according to the pipe diameter.
• Die material: HSS dies last longer on stainless and hard materials.
