Resideo (Honeywell) TMVX-00101 Thermostatic Expansion Valve – R22 / R407C, Externally Equalized, Replaceable Orifice

Resideo (Honeywell) TMVX-00101 is an externally equalized thermostatic expansion valve (TXV). It regulates the amount of liquid entering the evaporator according to the suction line superheat. Thanks to the replaceable orifice cartridge, the same body can be used for different capacities — by changing the orifice, capacities from 0.52 kW to 22.4 kW (R22) can be selected.

External Equalization + Adsorption Charge: Stable and Precise Control

External equalization (TMVX) is mandatory for evaporators with a liquid distributor and multiple circuits; the internally equalized TMV model is used only in simple single-injection circuits. It also ensures that the valve opens correctly on evaporators with a high pressure drop.

The distinguishing feature of the TMV series is its adsorption (combi) charge: the thermal system is not affected by the temperature of the capillary tube and valve head — it responds only to the temperature of the sensor. The result: stable operation at lower superheat values, reduced risk of hunting and compatibility with hot gas defrost systems. In addition, the same valve can be used with several refrigerants.

• 🔧 Mount the sensor on the suction line at the 3-4 o'clock position, fasten it tightly and insulate it; a loose sensor causes the valve to open too far.
• Take the equalizer line from the top of the suction line, 15-20 cm downstream of the sensor.
• The orifice cartridge is selected separately: The orifice determines the capacity (TMVD series cartridges: 0.5 / 0.7 / 1.0 / 1.5 / 2.0 / 2.5 / 3.0 / 3.5 / 4.5 / 4.75). Order the cartridge that matches your system capacity together with the valve.
• Cool the body with a wet cloth when making solder/flare connections — heat damages the thermal head charge.
