Resideo (Honeywell) TMVD-00003 Orifice Cartridge No. 2.0 – TMV/TMVX Expansion Valve, R404A 2.8 kW
- Stock: In Stock
- Brand: Honeywell
- Model: 42.05.063
Resideo (Honeywell) TMVD-00003, with orifice no. 2.0, is a replaceable orifice cartridge. It fits inside Honeywell TMV, TMVX, TMVBL and TMVXBL thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) bodies and determines the capacity of the valve.
Change the Capacity Without Replacing the Valve Body — The Orifice Cartridge Is Removable
This is the greatest advantage of the TMV series in the field: when the evaporator capacity changes or the valve was sized incorrectly, there is no need to remove the entire valve. You leave the capillary tube, the bulb and the solder/flare connections in place and replace only the internal orifice cartridge.
In practice, this turns a valve replacement that takes hours during a cold room or display case retrofit into a 15-20 minute cartridge change; since you do not re-solder the line, there is no risk of leaks either.

Danfoss Orifice Equivalents
If you have a Danfoss TS 2 / TES 2 (R404A) or TN 2 / TEN 2 (R134a) valve, select the Resideo equivalent based on capacity. Orifice numbers do not mean the same thing for the two brands.

The conditions of this table are different: t₀ = +5 °C, tc = +32 °C, 4 K subcooling. Do not compare it directly with the Resideo capacity table above (+4/+38, 1 K).
- 🔧 Orifice selection: Select the value closest to and one step above the evaporator capacity. An undersized orifice cannot feed the evaporator (excessive superheat, low efficiency); an oversized orifice makes the valve oscillate (hunting) and can let liquid flood back to the compressor.
- ⚠️ There is a large jump between 2.5 → 3.0. With R134a, capacity rises from 4.0 kW to 6.6 kW (65% increase). For systems that fall between these two values, selecting 2.5 and adjusting the superheat usually gives a better result.
- ⚠️ Soldering warning: During soldering, the Honeywell valve body must not exceed 100 °C. A cartridge change eliminates this risk completely — you do not solder at all.
- Superheat adjustment: one full turn of the adjusting spindle changes approx. 0.55 bar. Clockwise = flow decreases, superheat increases. Counterclockwise = flow increases, superheat decreases. Increasing the superheat lowers the MOP value.
- Bulb placement: mount it on the upper half of the horizontal suction line, never place it after a liquid trap, and always insulate it. Do not crush the bulb when clamping it.
- External equalizer line (TMVX / TMVXBL): it must be 6 mm or 1/4" and connected downstream of the bulb; leave a loop (overbow) so that oil does not enter the equalizer line.
