R410A is a chlorine-free (ODP = 0), ASHRAE A1 class — non-flammable, low toxicity refrigerant consisting of an approximately 50%/50% blend of difluoromethane (R32) and pentafluoroethane (R125). It is a practical size for small charging/top-up jobs and field service.

Technician Tips

• Charge from the liquid phase: Since R410A is a blend, turn the container upside down (liquid phase) to charge; charging from the vapor phase alters the blend ratio and reduces performance.
• High pressure: R410A is a high-pressure refrigerant; always use R410A-rated (high pressure) manifolds, hoses and fittings.
• Do not mix with other refrigerants; evacuate the system before charging and use a filter drier for moisture/acid.
• Although non-flammable, it is a compressed gas: work in a well-ventilated area, wear goggles/gloves, do not heat above 50°C and do not puncture.
• Do not release waste refrigerant into the environment; recover it in accordance with F-Gas regulations.
