The ITM Plate Heat Exchanger (Model PHE117 / ITM1901406) is a 14-plate, corrugated-type brazed heat exchanger in which domestic hot water (DHW) is heated in combi boilers. The stainless steel plates are brazed with copper; the corrugated plate pattern creates turbulence in the flow and increases heat transfer efficiency. It is the main part replaced when hot water from the tap arrives late, fluctuates between cold and hot, or when efficiency drops due to limescale/clogging. With a 154 mm screw (pin) spacing, it fits directly into the hydraulic group of the target combi boiler brands.

The 14-plate volume delivers optimum performance in medium-capacity combi boilers; the corrugated (new type) plate pattern provides higher heat transfer than the flat type. It is compatible with Eca, Nova, Bosch, Alarko and Viessmann combi boilers and is used in place of heat exchangers with original codes 7829304 and 7875504.

• Confirm the screw spacing: Before installation, check that the heat exchanger pin/screw spacing of your boiler is 154 mm and that the number of plates (14) matches.
• Renew the seals: Always renew the O-ring / gasket set when replacing the heat exchanger; do not reuse the old seals (risk of leaks).
• Clean/flush the system before replacement; limescale and sediment can quickly clog the new heat exchanger as well. A magnetic/scale filter is recommended in hard water areas.
• Symptom: Hot water from the tap arriving late/weakly or fluctuating between cold and hot usually indicates a clogged/inefficient plate heat exchanger.
