The HLD-200 (DSA-200 on the device) is a halogen leak detector designed to quickly find halogen-based refrigerant leaks in refrigeration and air conditioning systems. It complies with the SAE J1627 standard and detects even leaks as small as 3 grams (0.1 oz) per year of R22, R134a, R410A, R12 and other HFC/HCFC/CFC halogen refrigerants. Thanks to its 30 cm flexible metal probe, it easily reaches connection points, brazed joints and narrow gaps; as the leak increases, it shows the severity with a 6-level LED bar and an audible alarm.

Technician Tips

• When searching for leaks, move the probe slowly below the connection point; halogen refrigerants are heavier than air and sink downward.
• First do a general scan at the highest sensitivity; when you get a signal, lower the sensitivity to narrow down the exact leak point.
• Wind and fan airflow affect the result; measure in still air if possible, and for sensor life do not leave the device in a refrigerant cloud for long.
