General Refrigerant R134a Refrigerant Gas 650 g – Disposable Can, Without Valve
- Stock: In Stock
- Brand: General
- Model: gen-134-650gr
General Refrigerant R134a is a refrigerant supplied in a 650-gram disposable can. It does the job in automotive air conditioning charging, household refrigerator and commercial refrigeration repairs without carrying a cylinder.
Ready-to-Use Can for Automotive AC and Refrigerator Charging — Gets the Job Done in the Field Without Carrying a Cylinder
Carrying a 12 kg returnable cylinder for a single air conditioner charge or refrigerator repair is not practical. The 650-gram can exists exactly for this job: it fits in the vehicle, there is no deposit hassle, and what is left over is kept when the job is done.
R134a is an HFC refrigerant that replaced R12 and does not harm the ozone layer (ODP = 0). It is non-flammable (A1 safety class) — the green "NON-FLAMMABLE GAS 2" label on the package shows this.
Technical Specifications
- Refrigerant: R134a — 1,1,1,2-Tetrafluoroethane (CH₂FCF₃)
- CAS number: 811-97-2 (stated on the package)
- Brand: General Refrigerants
- Net fill: 650 grams
- Package: disposable can (non-refillable) · without valve — flat top, no valve
- Safety class: A1 — non-flammable, low toxicity
- Ozone depletion potential (ODP): 0
- Boiling point: approx. −26.3 °C (1 atm)
- Oil compatibility: POE (ester) oil — R134a does not work with mineral oil
Where It Is Used
- Automotive air conditioners — the most common use of R134a
- Household refrigerators and freezers
- Commercial refrigeration — medium temperature display cases, cold rooms
- Water chillers and heat pumps
- 🔧 This can has NO VALVE — a separate charging tool is required. There is no valve on the top; it is used with a charging/piercing valve (tap valve) that pierces the can, or with a quick coupler. If you do not have the tool, order it together with the refrigerant — otherwise you cannot open the can.
- ⚠️ Do not charge R134a into a system with mineral oil. R134a does not mix with mineral oil; the oil cannot return to the compressor and the compressor runs dry. When converting from R12 to R134a, the oil is also replaced with POE and the filter drier is renewed.
- 🔧 Evacuation before charging is essential. Air and moisture remaining in the system produce acid when combined with R134a + POE oil. The correct order: leak test → evacuation → charging.
- 🔧 Keep the can upright. For vapor-phase charging the can must stand upright; turning it upside down charges liquid and causes liquid slugging in the compressor. Liquid charging is done only from the high pressure side and with the compressor stopped.
- ⚠️ It is disposable — it cannot be refilled, punctured or burned. Do not throw away an empty can without fully releasing the pressure.
- Storage: in a cool, shaded place, so that it does not heat above 50 °C. Do not leave it in a car trunk for long periods in summer.
- It is subject to fluorinated greenhouse gas regulations; charging and maintenance must be carried out by persons authorized for this.
