Electronic Expansion Valves (EEV)

The electronic expansion valve (EEV) regulates the refrigerant flow with a stepper motor or a pulse width modulation (PWM) coil. The control board opens the valve step by step according to the superheat value it calculates from the pressure and temperature sensors; it provides precise control over a wider capacity range than a thermostatic valve. It is used in inverter air conditioners, heat pumps and commercial refrigeration systems.

When Replacing

• The valve body and the coil (motor) are separate parts; the coil winding is measured first, and the valve is not replaced until the fault has been identified.
• The control type (stepper motor / PWM) and number of steps of the new valve must be compatible with the existing board.
• During brazing, the coil is removed and the valve body is cooled with a wet cloth.
