This dishwasher drain pump motor pumps the dirty water inside the machine to the drain at the end of the programme. Label values: B20-6, 220-240 V, 50 Hz, 30 W, 0.2 A, flow 20 L/min, head 1.0 m. In the trade it is known as a drain pump, water drain pump or pump motor.

Where Is It Used?

• As a drain pump with impeller that fits onto the dishwasher pump housing with a twist-on (bayonet) connection.
• For direct replacement when the old pump's label shows B20-6 or the same values (30 W, 220-240 V) and the mounting is the same.

Fault Symptoms

• Water remains inside the machine at the end of the programme, or the machine shows a drain error.
• The pump hums but does not pump water: a foreign object such as broken glass or a fruit stone may be stuck in the impeller, or the impeller may be broken.
• The pump does not run at all: if it does not turn although its terminals receive power, the winding may be faulty.

When Replacing

• First check the filter at the bottom of the machine and the drain hose; a blockage gives the same symptom.
• Unplug the machine and drain the water remaining inside.
• Remove the old pump by turning it out of its housing; check the seal of the new pump and fit it in the same position.
• Connect the two flat (spade) terminals the same way as on the old pump.
