Danfoss TCHE 068U4582 Hot Gas Bypass (Capacity) Regulator – R407C, 10/12 mm ODF, 5.3 kW

Danfoss TCHE 068U4582 is a hot gas bypass (capacity) regulator for the refrigeration circuit. By diverting part of the hot gas in the compressor discharge line to the suction side in a controlled manner, it keeps the suction pressure constant; this prevents short cycling of the compressor and icing of the evaporator when the load drops.

⚠️ This product is not an expansion valve (TXV). An expansion valve feeds the evaporator from the liquid line and throttles according to superheat; a hot gas bypass regulator diverts gas from the discharge line to the suction line and reduces capacity at low load. The two products cannot be used interchangeably.

Typical applications: variable-load water chillers, process cooling, laboratory and medical refrigeration, and supermarket and air conditioning units that must run stably at low load. The regulator opens when the suction pressure drops below the set value and closes when the pressure rises.

• 🔧 Installation location: The regulator is connected so that it takes gas from the discharge line and injects it between the evaporator outlet and the TXV bulb; the equalizer line is taken from the suction tube.
• Liquid injection may be required: If hot gas is fed directly into the suction, the discharge temperature rises. For prolonged bypass operation, additional liquid injection should be planned to protect the compressor.
• Cool the body with a wet cloth during brazing; keep the flame away from the adjusting spindle and diaphragm area.
• Adjustment: The valve is expected to open when the suction pressure falls below the desired value; turn the adjusting screw in small steps and let the system stabilize.
