Designed for commercial air conditioning, rooftop, chiller and heat pump systems, the Danfoss DSH140A4ALD is a fixed-speed Performer scroll compressor (Danfoss code: 120H1541). With a 133 cm³ swept volume and 12 HP power, it delivers at 50 Hz 103,621 BTU/h (30,370 W / 30.4 kW) of nominal cooling capacity. In addition to R410A, it also works with the low-GWP alternatives R452B and R454B; it is charged with POE oil.

Danfoss Performer DSH series scroll compressors offer few moving parts, low vibration and high seasonal efficiency. With an internal overload protector, a wide operating envelope and brazed (ODF) connections, they are reliable and service friendly. The DSH140 is also used in Danfoss ready-made tandem and trio combinations: DSH280E (2×DSH140), DSH420T (3×DSH140), DSH230U (DSH090+DSH140), DSH260U (DSH140+DSH120), DSH301U (DSH161+DSH140) and DSH324U (DSH140+DSH184).

Technician's Tips

• Braze the 1 3/8 inch suction and 7/8 inch discharge ODF connections under nitrogen to prevent internal oxidation (critical for scroll).
• R410A is a high-pressure refrigerant; make sure your gauges, hoses and vacuum equipment are R410A compatible.
• POE oil absorbs moisture; keep the compressor sealed until installation and evacuate the system thoroughly before commissioning.
• Scroll rotation direction is critical: verify the phase sequence at first start-up; Danfoss strongly recommends a phase sequence protection relay for the DSH090-184.
• For a tandem installation, use Danfoss's ready-made tandem kit and oil equalization line; mount the compressors at the same level.
