Cougar 11121672A is a filter drier (receiver drier) fitted in the high-pressure line of bus air conditioning systems. Filter Drier for Bus Air Conditioning — Removes Moisture and Dirt from the Circuit

Moisture entering the air conditioning circuit combines with the refrigerant and oil to produce acid; the acid first destroys the winding insulation and then the compressor. Moisture also freezes at the expansion valve outlet and blocks the line, and the air conditioner stops cooling. The filter drier eliminates both risks at once, and also traps metal shavings and particles circulating in the circuit.

When should it be replaced? Every time the air conditioning circuit is opened — the filter drier must be renewed after every operation in which the system is exposed to air, such as replacing the compressor, condenser or hoses. The desiccant inside becomes saturated in open air; refitting the old filter puts the new compressor at risk. Replacement is mandatory after a compressor burnout.

• 🔧 Mounting direction: Follow the flow direction mark on the body. The filter drier is fitted in the liquid line, between the condenser outlet and the expansion valve.
• 🔧 Vacuum is essential when replacing: After the new filter is fitted, refrigerant must not be charged until the circuit has been evacuated. The vacuum removes both the air and the moisture that has entered the system.
• ⚠️ Do not open the packaging until the moment of installation. The desiccant inside starts absorbing moisture in open air; a filter opened too early is saturated before it is even fitted.
• ⚠️ Renew the O-rings. The old seal is not reused at the flange connection; the new O-ring is fitted with a drop of PAG oil applied to it.
• Adding oil: Some oil also comes out of the system when the filter is replaced. Top up with PAG 46 according to the amount in the vehicle's service documentation.
