The combi boiler water filling tap (filling valve) is used to top up the water lost from the heating circuit and bring the pressure back to the operating value. In Baxi's official spare parts lists, this part appears as item 90 – FILLING TAP; its code is JJJ005667980 (short form of the same code: 5667980).

In the field it is also known as the water top-up valve or water filling valve.

Thread size is G1/4 inch, male thread on one side, female port with a free-turning nut on the other. Elbow (90°) body, with a black knurled plastic knob.

🚨 Main and Main Four Do Not Use the Same Tap

In Turkey both appliances are simply called Baymak Main, but their filling taps are different parts. The distinction is clear in Baxi's own catalogs:

Main · Main DigitQuasar · Quasar PlusJJJ005667980 / 5667980 ← this product
Main FourQuasar D5700370 / 710224400 — not this product

On the Main Four / Quasar D, the part is not a stand-alone tap but a multi-port brass connection body that combines the heating outlet and filling — it does not look like this product either. Check your appliance's model label.

🪤 Note on Older Main Series

Baxi changed this part during production: Main appliances before serial number B323 use the tap with code 5663780, and the manufacturer does not consider these two parts interchangeable. If your appliance is from the older series, compare the removed part with this product.

How Is It Used?

  1. Work while the boiler is cold.
  2. Open the tap slowly — opening it quickly lets air into the circuit.
  3. Watch the pressure gauge and stop when it reaches 1.3 – 1.5 bar.
  4. Close the tap fully and make sure it is closed.

🚨 What Happens If the Tap Does Not Close Fully?

A leaking or not fully closed filling tap continuously lets water into the system. The pressure rises slowly; when it approaches 3 bar, the safety relief valve opens and the boiler starts dripping water from underneath. Most users think this is a safety valve fault, but the cause is often a filling tap left open.

If the pressure is rising, the sequence is: first verify that the filling tap is fully closed; if it is closed and the pressure still rises, check the expansion vessel (ruptured membrane) and then the plate heat exchanger (mains water mixing into the heating circuit).

When Should It Be Replaced?

  • It drips in the closed position or water leaks from its body.
  • It keeps passing water in the closed position — the pressure rises by itself.
  • The knob spins freely or is broken.
  • It is seized with limescale and does not turn without force.

🪤 Note for Alarko Trendy: the market states that this tap is also used in Alarko Trendy appliances, but there is a separate code in Alarko's own spare parts list. Before ordering for your Alarko appliance, compare the thread size (1/4 inch) and the nut port shape of the removed tap with this product.
