Testo 206 pH Meter KCl Gel Storage Cap – pH Probe Protective Cap, Compatible with Testo 206 pH1 and pH2 (0554 2067)

The Testo KCl gel storage cap (product code 0554 2067) is used to store the probe tip of the Testo 206 pH1 and Testo 206 pH2 pH/temperature meters between measurements; it is a spare protective cap filled with KCl electrolyte gel. It prevents the pH probe from drying out; the probe tip is only immediately ready for measurement when stored in gel. The cap can also be attached to the wall/belt holder supplied with the instrument.

Gel Cap That Keeps the pH Probe Tip Ready for Measurement

If excess gel remains on the probe tip when it is removed from the cap, the gel is used up and the cap must be replaced. Testo recommends regularly checking the gel in the cap for contamination and fill level and replacing the cap if necessary. If the cap is attached to the holder, the instrument is removed from the holder, the cap is detached from the holder by pressing it gently, and the new one is fitted in its place. A probe tip that has been out of the gel for a long time is made ready for use again by keeping it in gel for about 12 hours.

Technician Tips

• Remove the protective strip: before using a new cap, pull off the protective strip on its top.
• Immerse the tip fully in the gel: after measuring, rinse the tip with low-concentration soapy water and tap water below 40 °C, then fit it into the cap; the tip must be fully immersed in the gel and the gel must be kept clean.
• Revive a dried-out tip: if the probe tip has been out of the gel for a long time, keep it in gel for about 12 hours before use.
• Let it soak after cleaning and disinfection: after cleaning, the tip should be kept in gel for at least 1 hour (preferably 12 hours), and after disinfection with an alcohol-based disinfectant preferably for 12 hours, followed by a calibration.
• Monitor gel depletion: if excess gel remains on the tip when it is removed from the cap, or if the gel is contaminated, replace the cap.
