- Model: 102636
P&M 341 Line Piercing Valve, designed for taking instant pressure readings from the line or charging without releasing the refrigerant from the system in refrigeration and air conditioning (HVAC/R) systems. Often called a tap valve or piercing charging valve by service technicians in the field, this part offers high leak-tightness and safe operation with its heavy-duty yellow brass body and hardened steel piercing needle. It is manufactured to original Taiwanese P&M quality.
Technical Specifications and Compatible Tube Diameters
- Model / Reference: P&M NO.341.
- Compatible Tube Diameters: Adjustable grooved clamp design that fits all copper tube lines from 3/16" to 3/8" (O.D. outside diameter).
- Connection Type: 1/4" SAE flare service connection outlet, fully compatible with standard charging hoses (manifold).
- Material Quality: Forged brass body resistant to high pressure and corrosion, with a strong steel piercing tip that opens the refrigerant path reliably.
- Ergonomics: Metal T-type (wing) handle for precise needle control and a red plastic cap for protection against dust.
Advantages in Use
- Provides fast, safe access to the active line without the trouble of recovering or evacuating the system refrigerant.
- Creates a practical, permanent service port (Schrader valve) for evacuation, charging or pressure testing.
- Thanks to its compact design, it can be easily mounted on tube lines in tight spaces (compressor suction/discharge lines, condenser outlets, etc.).
Field Note for Technicians (Installation Advice)
Before fixing the piercing valve to the copper tube, lightly cleaning any oxidation, oil or paint on the tube surface with sandpaper or a brush will ensure that the inner gasket seats fully on the tube. Before starting installation, make sure that the T-handle on top is turned fully back (counterclockwise) and that the piercing needle is retracted inside the body. After tightening the screws evenly and crosswise, pierce the tube by slowly closing the valve, then open the handle back to allow flow. When the work is finished and the manifold hose is removed, do not forget to fit the red protective cap tightly to prevent leaks.
