Konor GQR14KG Hermetic Compressor – 1/2+ HP, R404A, 2,196 W / 7,493 BTU/h

Konor GQR14KG is a 1/2+ HP hermetic reciprocating refrigeration compressor operating with R404A refrigerant. Under ASHRAE conditions it delivers a cooling capacity of 2,196 W (7,493 BTU/h). It is made for light commercial refrigeration applications such as commercial refrigerators, display cabinets and merchandising counters.

The compressor is fan cooled and operates in circuits throttled by a capillary tube. Its evaporating temperature range is 0 … +7.2 °C — which makes it suitable for positive (HBP/MBP) applications, i.e. for cooler cabinets, not freezers.

Under what conditions was the capacity measured? The 2,196 W value above was measured under the manufacturer's ASHRAE test conditions: evaporating +7.2 °C, condensing +54.4 °C, suction gas 35 °C, ambient 35 °C. The same compressor delivers noticeably less capacity at lower evaporating temperatures — so the HP value alone is not a basis for comparison; look at the W and BTU values.

• ⚠️ The run (permanent) capacitor is not included in the box. This model has a CSR motor; it needs a 16 µF run capacitor to operate. The manufacturer's accessory list includes the start capacitor (80 µF) but not the run capacitor — it must be obtained separately: 16 µF run capacitor.
• Box contents: compressor, overload protector, starting relay, start capacitor, motor terminal cover and clip, 4 vibration mounts, 4 mounting sleeves.
• 🔧 Installation: The compressor operates upright; do not mount it without the vibration mounts. When brazing the tubes, wrap the body in a wet cloth; excessive heat damages the winding insulation.
• 🔧 Oil compatibility: POE oil absorbs moisture. Keep the compressor's suction plug closed until the moment of installation; the oil of a compressor left open absorbs moisture and acid forms in the circuit.
• ⚠️ Refrigerant compatibility: This model is for R404A. If fitted to an R134a system, capacity and oil return are impaired.
• Before commissioning, evacuate the system; a compressor is not replaced without renewing the capillary tube and filter drier.
