Country of Manufacture: Italy. Viscosity Grade: 68. Elke Poe 68 is a 1-liter high-viscosity refrigeration compressor oil designed for your industrial refrigeration systems. Clear and pale yellow at 20 °C in liquid form, with a pour point below -35 °C, it offers exceptional protection even in cold conditions.

Superior Features

• Flash Point: per the ASTM D 92 standard, 250 °C.
• Density: at 20 °C, approximately 960 kg/m³, providing a reliable composition.
• Water Solubility: Its moisture-absorbing hygroscopic structure helps protect systems from moisture.
• Acid Value: Below 0.1 mg KOH/g, offering a high-purity product.
• Biodegradability: according to the OECD 301B test, more than 60%, an environmentally friendly choice.
• Dielectric Strength: per IEC 60156 @ 24 °C, >75 kV, providing high electrical safety.
• Kinematic Viscosity: 64-72 cSt at 40 °C, 8.8-9.2 cSt at 100 °C, providing excellent fluidity and heat dissipation.
• ASHRAE 97 Thermal Stability: Deposit-free and clean performance in the 175 °C, 336-hour test.

Reliability Proven in Demanding Tests

Elke Poe 68 achieved excellent results in water content and acidity (TAN) values, the viscosity change remained below 3%, and no metal mobilization was observed. These results indicate that it will provide long-term protection and high performance in your refrigeration systems.

Compatible Refrigerants and Applications

• Compatible refrigerants: Compatible with R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A, R32, R507, R22 and R1234yf (Elke refrigerant–oil compatibility table; full list on datasheet page 4).
• Not used: Not used in ammonia (R717) systems; the manufacturer recommends mineral oil for these systems.
• Compressor type: ISO VG 68 grade POE, used in both reciprocating compressors and screw compressors (the manufacturer lists it in both groups).
• Use: Initial compressor fill and oil top-up; retrofit from R12 / R22 / R502 to HFC refrigerants in systems with mineral or alkylbenzene oil residue.
• Miscibility: Miscible with mineral, alkylbenzene, PAO and other POE oils; incompatible with PAG oils. Properties change when mixed with oil of a different viscosity.
• Protection: Anti-wear additive package for steel and aluminum surfaces; rust and corrosion protection including copper alloys; compatible with paints, coatings and elastomers.
• Water content: Below 50 ppm in new product.

Storage and Handling Warnings

• POE oil is hygroscopic and absorbs moisture from the air: close the container tightly immediately after use; store in a dry place between −20 … +40 °C.
• If the product has been stored below −20 °C, warm it above 20 °C before use.
• Packaging: 1 L plastic container, approx. 65 × 107 × 229 mm (12 per carton).
