The Eliwell EWRC 500 LX is a multi-function controller from the COLDFACE family that brings all control of cold rooms and refrigerated cabinets together in a single panel. It independently manages the compressor, defrost, evaporator and condenser fans, lighting and auxiliary relay outputs; it includes operating functions such as HACCP alarm logs, night-day (energy saving) mode and a deep cooling cycle. It comes in a ready-made IP65 panel enclosure, so there is no need to fit a separate control board inside the panel.

• Output loads must be checked: If the compressor is to be connected directly, the running and starting current of the motor must not exceed the Hp/A rating of the relevant relay; for higher loads, a suitable contactor is placed in between. High current drawn directly through the relay is the most common cause of contact welding.
• Probe placement determines the quality of the job: Place the room probe (Pb1) on the air return side and the evaporator probe (Pb2) between the fins so that it correctly detects the end of defrost; do not place the probe near the door, lighting or in direct airflow.
• The parameter menu has two levels: user (USEr) and installer (InSt). Compressor protection delays, defrost interval/duration and fan management are at installer level; after commissioning, you can back up the settings with the copy card and transfer them to panels of the same type.
• HACCP logs: The device stores power failure and temperature alarms with date and time; this is a practical advantage for businesses that are required to keep records for food safety inspections. When commissioning the RTC (real-time clock), make sure the time/date is set correctly.
• Although the panel is IP65, it should not be exposed to direct water spray, condensate dripping or aggressive environments containing ammonia/chlorine.
