Danfoss TE 2 Thermostatic Expansion Valve (068Z3730) – R448A / R449A, External Equalization, 3/8" × 1/2"

Danfoss TE 2 (code 068Z3730) is an externally equalized thermostatic expansion valve body specially calibrated for R448A and R449A refrigerants. It adjusts the amount of liquid entering the evaporator according to the suction line superheat. It works with an interchangeable orifice system: the body stays the same and the capacity is determined by the orifice.

TXV Calibrated for New-Generation Low-GWP Refrigerants (R448A / R449A)

R448A and R449A are low-GWP blends replacing R404A due to F-gas regulations (also known on the market as Solstice® N40 and Opteon™ XP40). Because these refrigerants are zeotropic blends, they show temperature glide; correct superheat control is only achieved with a thermostatic element calibrated for that refrigerant. An R404A valve does not work correctly with these refrigerants.

External equalization is mandatory on evaporators with a distributor and high pressure drop. Typical use: commercial coolers, blast chillers, transport refrigeration and supermarket units with variable load.

• 🚨 Orifice sold separately: This product is the valve body; the orifice (nozzle) that determines the capacity is selected and ordered separately. Tell us your system capacity and we will send the suitable orifice with it.
• 🔧 Clamp the sensor firmly to the suction tube at the 3-4 o'clock position and insulate it; a loose sensor makes the valve open too far.
• Take the equalizing line 15-20 cm after the sensor, from the top of the suction tube.
• Refrigerant compatibility: When converting an R404A system to R448A/R449A, the expansion valve must also be replaced — the old valve gives incorrect superheat because of the glide.
